Preparing for Easter

>
> The days leading to the death and resurrection of Jesus are a time of reflection and self-awareness. We are burdened with feelings of guilt and failure in so much of life. None is immune to guilt, mistakes, bad choices, wrong attitudes and actions. This unhealthy stuff accumulates in our minds and hearts cluttering us with so much toxic feelings and memories. It is the love of God in Jesus Christ that comes to us in the Easter event to make a way for us to confess our guilt, failure, wrong and receive forgiveness and the renewing of our hearts and minds in what is good and true. "A total life-change through the forgiveness of sins…." is happening in us…….

God is Good

EVERY MORNING MY THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS TURN TOWARD GOD ON YOUR BEHALF. THERE IS MUCH MORE ABOUT LIFE I DO NOT UNDERSTAND THAN THE LITTLE BIT I HAVE LEARNED. BUT ONE THING I KNOW IS - GOD IS GOOD- AND THAT REALITY IS THE CORE OF EVERYTHING. THAT GOODNESS IS THE BREATH OF LIFE FOR US PERSONALLY AND IN OUR RELATIONSHIPS AND WORK.

What you are looking for is within you...

"Concentrate on your heart. That's the only happiness that lasts…..Go to that place of the heart where God is….When you find God within yourself, He'll tell you who you are and who you're meant to be." I read these words this morning in Daily Guideposts. They were spoken many years ago by a mother to her young daughter. The intent was to point her daughter in the right direction for finding that her true values in life are deeper that her pretty face and attractive body. — What you are looking for is within you….

Psalm 119

>" I see the limits to everything human, but the horizons can't contain your commands." ( Psalm 119: 96 The Message) The longer I ponder this thought the more my attention is drawn to the meaning of life in the vastness of creation, the intimacy of Spiritual, the comfort in life without borders, and the moment is Grace.

Wait for the Lord

"Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord." (Psalms 27:14) = This is the Word I am listening to this day. Life has a mind of its own and we can react, resist, reject, complain or we can accept, trust, learn, respond, participate. In the latter we will be blessed with experience and fulfillment beyond measure. Life, world, you and me are all part of Creator's story. For best results wait, be strong, take heart. So whatever your agenda today, this week….wait-Lord-strong-heart.

Easter/Forgiveness

We are moving toward Easter. But before Easter Sunday morning comes the suffering and death of Jesus Christ.
Hatred, violence, pain, grief happens every day when someone is murdered, abused, neglected, insulted.
The death and resurrection of Christ says to us there is hope, forgiveness, starting new and forgiven living.
Every person needs the cleansing experience of forgiveness for our sin and conflict with God and each other.

"Make this your common practice: Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you can live
together whole and healed….." ( James 5:16-18 The Message)

Snipes

IT WAS FRIDAY NIGHT AT OUR BOY SCOUT LODGE AT LOG LANDING. THE SCOUT MASTER SAID OUR SPECIAL EVENT TONIGHT WOULD BE A SNIPE HUNT. AFTER CAREFUL INSTRUCTIONS WE SCATTERED INTO THE WOODS WITH OUR FLASH LIGHTS AND OUR IMAGINATIONS ALERT TO THE MYSTERIOUS SNIPES WE WERE TO FIND. FOR WHAT SEEMED LIKE HOURS WE WAITED IN THE DARK UNTIL OFF IN THE DISTANCE SOMEONE STARTED LAUGHING. END RESULT? IT WAS ALL MAKE  BELIEVE. NO SUCH THING AS A SNIPE ANIMAL. SO WE GATHERED BACK AT CAMP LAUGHING AND MAKING BELIEVE WE KNEW SOMETHING WAS FISHY ABOUT IT. — OF COURSE THE POINT HERE IS THAT IN LIFE THERE ARE MANY MOMENTS WHEN SOMEONE SPINS A TALE OF QUICK MONEY, EASY PATHS TO FAME, AND OTHER THINGS THAT APPEAL TO OUR DESIRES, GREED, HUNGER FOR ACCEPTANCE. TROUBLE IS THEY TURN OUT TO BE FALSE. — "Be wary of false preachers (or anybody) who smile a lot, dripping with practiced sincerity. Chances are they are out to rip you off some way or other. Don't be impressed with charisma; look for character." (Matthew 7:15 The Message) - Who the persons are is the main thing, not what they say.

From a distance it might appear to be anything poking its head up out of the ground. Up close it is a pump with handle on it. There is a rusty can with water in it beside the pump. The water is poured into the top of the pump while at the same time moving the handle up and down until water from deep in the ground starts pouring out. I remember this mechanism in the field on Uncle Gene's farm. In the middle of a hot dry day he would stop plowing and pump fresh cool water to satisfy his thirst. From this simple device came life giving water. By simply turning out attention to God we find love, forgiveness, kindness, reconciliation, and every other life giving spiritual water that satisfies our need.

when white hairs come

>"Listen to me….till you grow old I am He, and when white hairs come, I will carry you still; I have made you and I will bear the burden, I will carry you and bring you to safety. (Isaiah 46:4) - From childhood we struggle to be independent. It is in our nature. Yet life experiences teach us we are never completely self-sustaining. Then comes old age and once again we face the reality of vulnerable, needy, shaking hands reaching our for someone to help. But in these words of Isaiah I hear reassurance. At the end of the day all we really need is in God's faithfulness. Life may not be all we want but when all is said and done our rest and security and fullness of life in in "I am He..I will carry you." The sooner we accept this reality the sooner we begin to really live in the hear and now. And to give thanks for those helping hands God provides for us.

Fwd: thought

"AS THE FATHER HAS LOVED ME, SO I HAVE LOVED YOU; ABIDE IN MY LOVE." (John 15:9) - Love is the Word. It is not a word that sits on the sideline of your life or my life. Love does not observe and cheer us on. Love is involved in the "game" of whatever is going on with us- In all our relationships, all our illness, all our success or failure. Abide/live/dwell/pause/rest in love. The end result will be healing, reconciling, encouragement, hope, forgiveness, kindness, patience….and the list of love attributes continues. Love is everything….

and with you I share this thought in love
