ohn was one of those special persons God sent into my life

One of the government programs paid farmers not to plant beyond a certain amount of a particular crop. I  needed a summer job. John asked me to assist him in measuring the amount of cotton farmers in the county had planted. If they planted over the allotted amount they had to plow it up. What I remember as the most important part of this summer experience was my time with John. He was a kind and wise man. He was patient to teach me how to do the job. Each day at lunch time we would find a shaded place on the edge of a field and eat our sandwiches. We shared thoughts and talked about life hopes and goals. But mostly we just enjoyed working together enjoying the out doors. I could say John was one of those special persons God sent into my life who encouraged me to dream and work to make dreams happen.

IT IS JUST PART OF WHO WE ARE.  I FIND IT EXCITING TO SEE HOW CONTEMPORARY FRAMES OF THOUGHT BECOME VEHICLES FOR COMMUNICATING AGE OLD TRUTH. OUR RELIGION TEACHES US THAT WE ARE MADE IN THE  IMAGE OF GOD AND THAT GOD IS GOOD. I AM GLAD SCIENCE HAS DISCOVERED THIS TRUTH.

I AM SCANNING THE BOOKS IN MY LIBRARY AND MY EYE PAUSES ON THE TITLE, "AMUSING OURSELVES TO DEATH."  I CAME ACROSS A PHRASE, "....MAN'S ALMOST INFINITE APPETITE FOR DISTRACTIONS."---DISTRACTION CAN KEEP US FROM FACING THE TRUTH IN ALL LEVELS OF LIFE. WHILE WE ARE FOLLOWING THE DISTRACTIONS OUR MORAL, PHYSICAL, COMMUNITY, NATIONAL LIFE MAY BE DECAYING. ---PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT YOU ARE THINKING, FEELING, SAYING. We built a incubator in which to hatch the eggs-a warm protected place for the tiny creatures to be born. Next came the fenced in area in the yard where the tiny chickens to grow to maturity. Fences can make a prison or fences can make a enclosure where nurture and growth can happen until one is ready to move outside the fence into a life of service and exploration. Some may see discipline as a fence to make a prison and some may see discipline as a way to grow and make important things happen......
