Love covers all offenses

"Hate stirs up conflict, but love covers all offenses." (Proverbs 10:12) - dislike, prejudice contribute to polluted imaginations and attitudes toward  persons we do not know and understand. We can buy into causes that stir hatred and all manner of destruction results. We need persons who are predominantly influenced by love, kindness, respect, toward everyone and especially toward persons we do not understand. Not easy to do this but Holy Spirit is counselor and helper for us to do this.

Your Instruction is Deep Within Me

>
> "YOUR INSTRUCTION IS DEEP WITHIN ME." (Psalms 40:8)---- "...seeing patients as people with families is very much a part of what drives me. That desire to serve and make a difference is just part of who I am." These words are part of a article by the Dean of the School of Medicine at Emory University. There is something about doing something to help someone in a time of trouble that feels right. This may happen in one on one relationships and it may happen in a cause that addresses injustices that abuse people, especially children. God's instruction deep within us....

The Lord is kind to those who honor him

>
> "As a father is kind to his children, so the Lord is kind to those who honor him." (Psalms 103: 13) -- "..God created human beings, making them to be like himself.....blessed them.." (Genesis 1: 27,28) --- Parenting, caring, nurturing, encouraging, being there and the amazing thing is that a person never outgrows being a parent any more than God outgrows being Father,Mother,Counselor, Comforter, Healer for us. We are made like God and cannot escape it and the sooner we realize this and start living in sync with our real nature the better off we will be and the more fulfilling and satisfying life will be. And parenting extends out to your grandchildren and it just keeps on and on.......

Like a cool breeze on a hot summer day

>
> "Where could I go to get away from your spirit? Where could I go to escape your presence? (Psalm 139: 7). it is possible I think to be surrounded by people yet feel alone. In those moments to consider the inescapable presence of Spirit. Like a cool breeze on a hot summer day....

Fix Our Eyes on Jesus

"Let's throw off any extra baggage, get rid of the sin that trips us up, and fix our eyes on Jesus, faith's pioneer and perfecter." (Hebrews 12:1,2) -- my, my, these thoughts come to me frequently. We accumulate so much baggage..not just material stuff but emotional, mental stuff. Hurt feelings, terrifying experiences that leave us afraid, negative voices that counteract good, positive thoughts. Well moments of meditation, quiet, restful, maybe sometimes fun times bring restoration. But most important refocusing our attention on Christ who pioneered for us genuine faith living. Well, today things are not likely to go 100% like we want but just cast aside what is not worth keeping and get on down the road of God's blessings.

Let's get on with it

I read the parable of the talents and a interesting twist came to mind when I heard the one talent person tell the owner that he gained profit and wealth from the labor of someone else. It sounded like he was distracted by the unfair advantage the owner had taken to get where he was in life. This may not be a correct reading of this scene but it does speak for me to our being so disgusted with politics, corporate and individual greed that we just say what's the use trying, just crawl into the hole of cynicism and bury what ability and power we have to do something good. Jesus lays on us our responsibility to be faithful and not be consumed with what is wrong in life, in the institutions of our world. Trust the Owner to have the final word. As for this one person, me, I will faithfully do what I can with what I have. So today lets get with it.

with humility comes wisdom

> "When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom." --Proverbs 11:2-- conceit and self-importance causes us to take our attention off Who is really important and we stumble..a healthy sense of our own gifts and stewardship frees us to learn from outside ourselves/another person thus enhancing what we have to offer ...

"...you have defeated....because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world." --1 John 4:4--Life doesn't happen in a uninterrupted flow of peace and happiness. We live in a crazy, mixed up, conflicting environment. People are shooting one another somewhere every night it seems. Behind closed doors families live in times of conflict with moments of peace. And the painful experiences of life happen constantly in all levels of our existence. Yet, despite all this negative, persons rise above the death and destruction to become noble, benevolent, caring, participants in home, work and community. At the end of the day we look to the good one has done more than the mistakes. How is this so? Because  the Holy Presence in you is greater than the bad influences in the world around you.And God never gives up on you. We always need persons who are not perfect but keep on keeping on....

Peacemakers Seek to Understand

"HAPPHY ARE PEOPLE WHO MAKE PEACE, BECAUSE THEY WILL BE CALLED GOD'S CHILDREN." -Matthew 5:9 - PEOPLE LNE UP AGAINST ONE ANOTHER AND THROW WORDS OR BULLETS AT ONE ANOTHER. IT BECOMES A US AGAINST THEM ENVIRONMENT. NO FAMILY, NO BUSINESS, NO NATION CAN GROW HEALTHY THIS WAY. THE  PEACE MAKERS DON'T GO IN WITH A BAG OF SOLUTIONS AND ANSWERS TO ALL PROBLEMS. PEACE MAKERS LISTEN, RESPECT, SEEK TO UNDERSTAND. PEACE MAKERS ARE MOST IMPORTANTLY A PRESENCE THAT NON-VERBALLY IS PEACEFUL.
