Inner Setting

>
> While I work to create the ideal setting for living, my real need is my inner setting. As my mind and heart is made right I am better able to create outwardly.

Love Team

On Mar 30, 2015, at 4:31 PM, Bill Edwards

EVERY PERSON NEEDS A LOVE TEAM. LIFE IS NOT ALWAYS PEACHES AND CREAM. SOMETIMES LIFE IS REALLY SOUR GRAPES AND ROTTEN APPLES. A PERSON CAN BE REALLY HURTING AND FEEL ALONE AND DISCOURAGED  THEN THE LOVE TEAM GETS ON THE BALL AND FINDS WAYS TO BE THERE. THE LOVE TEAM MAY FIRST OF ALL BE FAMILY. IT MAY BE CLOSE FRIENDS, A SMALL SUPPORT GROUP, CLOSE CHURCH FRIENDS. THE LOVE TEAM IS NOT A FIX IT GROUP, THEY ARE A BE THERE GROUP. THE LOVE TEAM KNOWS THEY ARE NOT IN CHARGE. AT THE HEART THE LOVE TEAM IS PRESENT IN THE NAME AND SPIRIT OF JESUS CHRIST AND TAKES THEIR COUNSEL FROM HIS TEACHINGS AND EXAMPLE. AT THE HEART MESSAGE OF JESUS IS, "NOT MY WILL, BUT YOUR WILL BE DONE". IN ORDER FOR THE LOVE TEAM TO DO ITS JOB THERE ARE SIX RULES: 1) I HAVE SURRENDERED YOU TO GOD. 2) I WILL LISTEN FOR COUNSEL FROM HOLY SPIRIT. 3) I WILL WAIT FOR GUIDANCE. 4) I WILL NOT JUMP AHEAD OF YOU IN IMPATIENCE. 5) I WILL PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR WORD. THIS IS FOUND PRIMARILY IN MATTHEW, LUKE, MARK, JOHN AND PSALMS. ALSO IN THE MANY BIBLICAL STORIES. 6) I TRUST GOD WITH ALL MY MIND, HEART, STRENGTH.

The "Love Team" is a concept I have been using with my children and grandchildren as a way of letting them know family hangs together. We are the first line of care in times of need.

only God

When pondering the violence and evil in the world it will help to spend some time listening to Psalm 58. Dietrich Bonhoeffer was a theologian and pastor in Germany during Hitler's reign of terror. He was in prison because he was part of the resistance movement plotting the assassination of Hitler. His writings/sermons give insight into his experience, the Word and how the Bible came alive for him in the face of evil and death. Some of my thoughts are taken from his book, Meditating On The Word. "…in the face of the enemy of God and his church we can only pray…..Only the one who has power over Satan, God himself, can take the matter in hand….Whoever calls for the vengeance of God renounces thereby any vengeance of his own." (p. 91)

There are some things only God can straighten out/deal with.

Fwd: THOUGHT

"Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, to assure the survival and success of liberty."
-President John F Kennedy

I share this as a reminder that as Christ gave his life to insure our salvation from sin, others have given their lives to protect our freedoms. Carefully, gratefully we enjoy the gifts of life made possible to us by others.

Memorial Day thoughts

Drew Edwards

On 5/28/18, 6:32 AM, "Bill Edwards" <revwge@me.com> wrote:

The truth of Christ is found in your own story. God was in Christ reconciling the world unto himself. God in you is the current reality. As you embrace the Christ Spirit you become the contemporary incarnation of the Presence, Word, Power for making the world a better place. The world needs your story of Christ present now.

Memorial Day allows us to remember others who have sacrificed all for the good and of others, most of whom they would never know. Give thanks and carefully, prayerfully live this special day.

Beautiful couple

"To love and cherish….in sickness and health."… and in old age and disabilities. The relationship between a wife and husband evolves. I guess it is a matter of growing together. We grow together when we are young. We grow together when we have children. We grow together when we become grandparents. We grow together in all the varied experiences of pain, heartache, success and failure. Good times and bad and we hang in there and grow together. Finally we grow old together. This is a growing time in which we are more mindful of time running out. Make every moment count. Hold onto each other spiritually and physically. Sometimes we may have to hold each other up to stay on our feet. All the time as we live, cry, laugh the stages and experiences we LOVE AND CHERISH EACH OTHER….. THANKS BE TO GOD, OUR SOLID ROCK FOUNDATION...

This World is Not Our Own

>

> "….humility and the recognition that as human beings we can't solve everything or control all aspects of life. We need others…….We are not created for independence or self-sufficiency, but for interdependence and mutual support." The speaker of these words lives in exile because a foreign government rules his native land. The people of Israel lived forty years in exile. In some ways we all live at times in what feels like exile because we are in circumstance not of our own choosing. There is an old hymn that says, "this world is not my home.." While we are here we need one another. To accept this opens us to more powerful and abundant living. Let us give thanks to God for one another.

Compassion

>
>
> We cannot fix all the wrong in the world. We cannot pass enough laws to prevent evil from breaking out. What we can do is be compassionate. Compassion can penetrate the hardest shells of anger, bitterness, fear, disillusionment......respond compassionately and see what happens, in yourself and in others.
