Psalms 19

"Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength and my redeemer."  (Psalm 19: 14) - This is my prayer for myself and for you this day wherever we are and whatever is the business of the moment……..

do your best

"If you had a sad childhood, so what?
You can dance with only one leg
and see the snowflake falling
with only one eye."
-Robert Bly

consider what you do have and do all the good you can with it….one breath at a time….

I came to serve

"From now on, any definition of a successful life must include serving others." -George Bush-

George H.W. Bush grew up in a family in which service to other was a fundamental principle for daily life. As I listened to his story last night on American Experience I was aware of his commitment to do what is right as best he could. Jesus Christ reminds us when he says, "I came to serve and not to be served.."

Don't Judge

>
>
> Everyone functions with handicap. Some disability, weakness, sickness, obstacles in the way of your dreams. Therefore we cannot afford to judge one another. Who am I to judge you when i have a plank in my own eye? We need to pray for one another, be there for each other, encourage each other, forgive each other, hold each other accountable...

Fwd: thought

>
>
> "NOW ABIDE FAITH, HOPE, LOVE, THESE THREE; BUT THE GREATEST OF THESE IS LOVE." -(1 Corinthians 13:13) One reason love is greatest is it is the very nature of God. God is love. I am sending this because I want you to know you are loved …that makes all the difference on earth and in heaven….

Foresight

FORESIGHT:   "I skate where the puck is going to be, not where is has been" (Wayne Gretzky, hockey player) - "The status quo may be more or less resistant to change, but it will change." (John McCain, Hard Call) -  A person needs to "wise up" and be open to change because it is a law of nature. The smart person sets out to understand what is going on and know what you can about your adversary(change). This sets the stage for intelligent thinking and action in the midst of change. Of course individual and collective prejudice will scream no. Push through it and get into creative, healthy change. In my imagination I hear God thinking, "let us continue the work of creation today in each person and all else…"

Keep us From Falling

“…BY HIS POWER WE ARE KEPT FROM FALLING..” (JUDE 24) - “Do the log roll” says the nurse as I learn how to get out of bed following abdominal surgery. I am sore, I am afraid, I am weak and tubes are coming our of several places in my body. I have no choice but to have someone help me stay on my feet and not topple over. Sometimes it is the nurse and some times it is one of my children. All this goes to say that for someone who has worked hard to be in charge, being helped is……but I am grateful to have the good sense to know I am never really in charge and I am grateful for all the people who have been here to help me and keep me from falling. After all the power of God that keeps us from falling often comes in the person of someone who cares and loves enough to be there to help.

PAY ATTENTION, JUST DRIVE

>
>
> "PAY ATTENTION, JUST DRIVE!" A sign over the Holland Tunnel on way from downtown Manhattan to New Jersey. Good advice for drivers. On a larger view it can call us to pay attention to now and not worry about the cares of the world. It is called faith living. Jesus reminds us not to worry about everything and focus on the day seeking first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness.

Forgiveness Makes Room for Beauty

The healing power of forgiveness….
Every Thursday morning out street is lined with big trash cans waiting to be emptied when the garbage truck comes. This reminds me of our need to regularly empty the trash in our minds and hearts; otherwise it builds up and gets really rotten causing all kinds of emotional and spiritual and mental and physical disease. "…forgive us our sins as we forgive the sins of others against us…" these words are at the heart of The Lords Prayer. Forgiving makes inner space for beauty and kindness and love….to grow thus blessing others….this exercise keeps us healthy.
