IN TIMES OF CRISIS WE RISE ABOVE THE VIOLENCE OF THE MOMENT AND GRAB HOLD TO THE NEAREST RUNG OF THAT LADDER THAT LIFTS US TO VALUES AND PRINCIPLES THAT BRING SANITY AND BALANCE.  LAST NIGHT  OUR UNITED STATES OF AMERICA MET AT THE UNIVERSITY OF ARIZONA IN TUCSON FOR A MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR ALL INVOLVED IN THE KILLINGS AND INJURIES OF LAST SATURDAY. EVERY PERSON INVOLVED IN THE SERVICE SPOKE TO THE  CALL TO WALK THE HIGHER ROAD IN  OUR RELATIONSHIPS AND WORK TOGETHER IN THIS NATION. OUR PRESIDENT ROSE ABOVE POLITICS TO CALL US TO THOSE VALUES THAT ARE THE FOUNDATION OF THIS GREAT NATION. I AM REMINDED AGAIN OF THOSE ETERNAL WORDS THAT REMIND US  THAT "GOD WORKS  IN ALL THINGS FOR GOOD WITH THOSE WHO  LOVE HIM AND ARE CALLED ACCORDING TO HIS PURPOSE."

(Isaiah 26: 3) -- think about it. what is the cause of worry, fear, a troubled mind? -- well, i guess it is part of the human experience; however, the word I hear in this scripture tells me that if my mind is centered in the trust of God, if I am firm in this sense of the Center of all things, then i will experience a peace that allows me to function at my highest and best level.

We kidded her about her "in case" paper sacks or other items always present in her van. She kept them there in case she needed them. Like many things we hold onto in life there is a pro and con to it. The con side is when we hold on to things that have out lived their usefulness and are just in the way. Sometimes we hold onto habits that are a burden instead of asset. Sometime we hold onto things out fear or some other unhealthy reason. Anyway, it helps to get rid of things that drag us down or block out view of the bigger picture.

yes we have our work to do. we are participants in the daily of life. but it pays to pause, meditate, become aware that there is a end to what we can do and Someone else has the final word.  in this moment of awareness comes real freedom to do our part effectively----rearing children, making a living, dealing with issues of life in the present.........
