"…MAN'S EXTREMITY IS GOD'S OPPORTUNITY…" (William Barclay) - We hit the wall of our limitations and wonder if all is helpless, then we are reminded that with God all things are possible. Therefore, we trust Holy Spirit at work in our moment of limitations. TODAY MEET EACH OF YOUR EXPERIENCES IN THE CONFIDENCE GOD IS THERE AHEAD OF YOU WORKING ON YOUR NEEDS.

For God gave us a SPIRIT not of fear but of  POWER and LOVE and SELF-CONTROL. —(2 Timothy 1:7).." chesed, a Hebrew word that means never-failing, steadfast, and enduring love that God gives us."  These are thoughts for the beginning a this new week. Pause with them…listen to their whisper in the moment….let their vibration be felt in your soul…..

creation... God.... Jesus

RAGGED, DISTRACTED, ANXIOUS, PERFECTIONISTIC DRIVEN, WANTING EVERYTHING TO BE CALM AND HARMONOUS, NEVER OVEREATING, NEVER DOING ANYTHING EXCESSIVELY. THEN I COULD RELAX AND BE A PEACE WITHIN MYSELF. THE TROUBLE WITH THIS MINDSET IS IT IS UNREALISTIC. CREATION HAPPENS AT HIGH RISK OF FAILURE, SOMETHING GOING WRONG, A BABY COMING INTO THE WORLD WITH PHYSICAL OR MENTAL DISABILITY. PEACE NEGOTIATIONS BETWEEN NATIONS VERY LIKELY WILL NOT MEASURE UP TO HOPES AND EXPECTATIONS. DISTRUST HINDERS PROGRESS. A YOUNG MAN DRIVES INTO A PARKING LOT AND BEGINS SHOOTING INTO A MARINE RECRUITING STATION. — INTO THIS KIND OF WORLD IS BORN A SMALL, INNOCENT BABY. HE IS LOVINGLY PLACED IN A BOX IN WHICH FEED IS PLACED FOR ANIMALS. FROM THIS HUMBLE SETTING THE CHILD GROWS INTO A MAN. HE MOVES AMONG THE PEOPLE OF HIS TIME AND PLACE SPEAKING WORDS, MESSAGES OF HOPE AND LOVE. TELLING PEOPLE TO RETURN EVIL WITH GOOD. PRAY FOR THOSE WHO MISTREAT YOU AND TELL LIES ABOUT YOU. THESE THOUGHTS SEEM OUT OF PLACE IN THIS NASTY WORLD. BUT…..OVER THE CENTURIES ONE PERSON AFTER ANOTHER TAKES TO HEART THIS MESSAGE OF THE HIGH ROAD FOR LIVING. LIVES ARE TRANSFORMED INTO LOVE AND GOOD WORKS. PERSONS ARE SET FREE FROM DEBILITATING  BEHAVIOR AND BECOME PERSONS OF KINDNESS AND HEALING…..THE WORLD STILL SUFFERS FROM HATE BUT THE LOVE OF GOD STILL COUNTERACTS HATE. GOD DOES NOT GIVE UP AND NEITHER WILL I……

defeat

"I could take the beatings and the physical punishment, but it was the attempt to destroy your dignity, to make you a nonentity, that was the hardest thing to bear." -Louis Zamperni== Held prisoner by the Japanese, WW II. He endured sadistic punishment by his guard and life was almost unbearable, but he refused to surrender to defeat.   When released, he learned he had been reported dead. He lived another 69 years. He was 97 when he died.-- Put along side this a quote from Maya Angelou: "We may encounter many defeats, but we must not be defeated." 

I find these words bearing a message that is worth pausing and listening…..

I SIT HERE IN THE MIDST OF CLOTHES AND MEDICINE CONTAINERS, SHOES, BOOKS SCATTERED AROUND WAITING TO BE PUT AWAY INTO THEIR PROPER PLACES. YET THERE IS PEACE AND THE AFTER GLOW OF BEING WITH FAMILY CELEBRATING ANOTHER SPECIAL FAMILY WEDDING AT ISLE OF PALMS. IT OCCURS TO ME THERE MUST BE A BIT OF AFTERMATH MESS IN ORDER TO ENJOY A MEANINGFUL MOMENT. OUTSIDE MY STUDY WINDOW IS THE BEAUTIFUL SUN-LIT DAY. THANKS BE TO GOD FOR WONDERFUL MOMENTS AND MEMORABLE EXPERIENCES.

A friend of mine once said that when life quits changing and fear is conquered, there is a good chance you are dead.(Scott Walker, Daily Guidepost) . This is a good reminder that the goal of life is not to get rid of pain and inconvenience. Instead accept the challenge and deal creatively.

Living

"And the Word became flesh and lived among us…….full of grace and truth." (John 1:14)….I would rather see a sermon than hear one….my mother read us the Bible stories, but I learned more about the stories by the way she lived than when she read them…..her compassion, forgiveness, humility…..

Weeds and Wheat

Jesus said something about the weeds and wheat growing together until God decides to deal with it. There is so much beyond our power, our sense of right. the best we can do at times is hold steady in our sense of good and right trusting the ultimate will of God, not only in our personal life but also in the life of our nation and world. sad, yes, discouraged, no?
