Young and Old

>
> HOW CAN A PERSON BRIDGE THE GAP OF YEARS BETWEEN THE YOUNG PERSON AND THE OLD? Several years ago I attended a Steven Covey seminar in a downtown hotel. The large room was filled with young professionals. Every person at my table was early in their career. I felt out of place and one person wanted to know why I was there. She was not disrespectful, just curious. Of course I was there because I was curious about the speaker. Now this is a natural state of life between the young and the old but the question remains, HOW TO BRIDGE THE GAP BETWEEN THE YOUNG AND THE OLD ………

Fwd: thought

> COMMIT YOUR WAY UNTO THE LORD; TRUST ALSO IN HIM……WAIT UPON THE LORD…IF YOU FALL, YOU WILL NOT STAY DOWN, BECAUSE THE LORD WILL HELP YOU UP. (selections from Psalm 37) - I read this morning from the Bible I read when I was 16 years old. I underlined these verses of scripture. they were helpful to me at that time in my life adventure. I read them now when I am 80 years old. They are still enabling to me at this time in my life adventure. Thanks be to God whose Presence and Word is the fresh water of life.

make it count

> "MAKE EVERY EXPERIENCE IN YOUR LIFE COUNT FOR GOOD." -Zane Grey- The Spirit in you empowers you to put one foot in front of the other and keep walking….while keeping your eye on what is true, good, right, kind, compassion, true….your dream...

Compassion

>
>
> When Jesus saw the crowds, he had compassion for them because they were troubled and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.(Matthew 9:36) - compassion: care, concern, warmth, tenderness, kindness, charity, love. The opposite of compassion is indifference, cruelty. It is the nature of God within us to be moved with compassion when we see the suffering and pain of another person. This is a prelude to a act of care and tenderness. It is the nature of the devil in us when we look and turn away in indifference or when we laugh and make fun of a person in a sad state of life. As Jesus was moved by compassion so be it for you and me. Holy Spirit, do not let us become desensitized to the pain and hurt of others and turn away in indifference. Keep us sensitive, caring, tender and move us to acts of kindness in the midst of indifference in this world. Amen.

Old Habits

On Jun 12, 2014 4:53 AM, Bill Edwards <revwge@me.com> wrote:
"OLD HABITS CAN'T BE THROWN OUT THE UPSTAIRS WINDOW. THEY HAVE TO BE COAXED DOWN THE STAIRS ONE STEP AT A TIME." -Mark Twain-  a habit does not develop overnight and changing it does not happen immediately. Sometimes we get into the habit of listening to the negative voices in our thoughts and our behavior develops in unhealthy ways. When a person decides to live according to the teachings of Christ it takes learning new ways of thinking and behaving. The long run result is positive but the old way of thinking has to be dealt with one step at a time. We set the goal of becoming a teacher, doctor, nurse, automobile technician, caregiver, parent, etc.  and before we take the first step we have to deal with the "i might fail" voices. Ignore this voice and listen to the voice that says I can do it and God will provide what I need each step and gradually the "can do" habit of thinking and acting kicks in.

live and learn

>
> "Only fools do not acknowledge mistakes and learn from them.." (Lou Dobbs) — and one of the wise teachings of our faith is to confess our sin, our wrong, our mistreatment of other and trust God's forgiveness. After all Christ gave his life for us to be able to be foolish, repent and take the right way.

Peace

"THE FIRST PEACE, WHICH IS MOST IMPORTANT, IS THAT WHICH COMES WITHIN THE SOULS OF PEOPLE WHEN THEY REALIZE THEIR RELATIONSHIP, THEIR ONENESS, WITH THE UNIVERSE AND ALL ITS POWERS, AND WHEN THEY REALIZE THAT AT THE CENTER OF TGHE UNIVERSE DWELLS THE GREAT SPIRIT, AND THAT THIS CENTER IS REALLY EVERYWHERE, IT IS WITHIN EACH OF US. (Native American Black Elk) —"…The Kingdom of God is within you.." (Jesus Christ) — OUR ANCHOR, OUR COMPASS, OUT CONSCIENCE………

Everything I have belongs you

EVERYTHING I HAVE BELONGS TO YOU. I WANT TO USE IT WISELY AND WHEN I MAKE UNWISE DECISIONS, I WANT TO WALK  WITH YOU THROUGH IT TO WISDOM. THIS IS MY PRAYER.

The Business of Life

WE WORK AT THE BUSINESS OF LIFE AND ARE FAITHFUL BUT THERE REMAINS RAGGED EDGES AND UNFINISHED THINGS TO BE DONE. SOMETIMES WE FEEL OVERWHELMED. THEN IN MOMENTS OF REFLECTION WE AWAKEN TO THE REALITY THAT WE ARE NOT IN CHARGE AND CAN’T FIX LIFE AND THE WORLD BUT WE CAN TRUST.

John Wesley

John Wesley had three simple rules: DO NO HARM-DO ALL THE GOOD YOU CAN-STAY IN LOVE WITH GOD. If we live by these words in relationship with one another and in the way we treat all creation, there will be no need for violence and fear.
