Work

>
> "WHATEVER YOU DO, DO IT FROM THE HEART FOR THE LORD AND NOT FOR PEOPLE." (Colossians 3:23) - work is not a necessary evil; although we may sometimes feel or think it is. I see work as a sacred trust. a opportunity to participate with Creator. Work engages all our faculties. In our culture a person has multiple options for work. Work engages mind, body, spirit, emotions. Work is a way of expressing ourselves and we feel better about ourselves when we have made good use of the specific gifts we have inherited in creation. our work is even richer when shared with and/or affirmed by others. I think of the analogy of the human body. Each part has purpose and function. Each part is important to the best function of the whole. No part can look at the other and say you do not matter. We enhance the experience of life when we celebrate each other. The world would be a boring place if every person was the same as every other person. We do the work of life as we do the work of diversity. I remember a church growth leader saying to me one time that it is a mistake to put a nuts and bolts person in a visionary job to work out a master plan. Likewise it would be foolish to put a dreamer and visionary person in the work of maintaining and doing the detail work. Value and respect your gifts in work and value and respect the other person too and the world will be a better palace in which to live and grow.
