Fwd: thought

>
> "In politically oppressive societies, demands for autonomy are answered by coercive responses rather than negotiation of new relationships." (Peace and Conflict Studies) -- I see this acted out in countries today where the masses demonstrate for fair access to powers of government. And in our own country we expect the time will come when demonstrating groups of persons and government leaders will begin negotiations. Out of this can come a better understanding and hopefully improved situations. In a free society there will always be tension between the person on the street and the government. This is necessary in holding one another accountable. A free press is part of this dynamic.
