I learned a lot from him after the fact, but missed really getting to know him

(Shaw/CS Lewis writings) --  along the journey of the years I have known people with whom I got cross ways and I just turned them off. I never sat down one on one and talked, listened, shared. I think of one man in particular in a small church who was church treasurer but never would tell us how much money we had. I tried to force him and got no where. In retrospect I suspect the people gave so little he had to make up the difference, because he always kept the bills paid. Any way, I learned a lot from him after the fact, but missed really getting to know him. It was my ignorance at the time that kept the door closed …...
