These quotes came from THE UPPER ROOM devotional book Oct. 31, 1972. I saved these thoughts

because at that time they meant something important to me. I share them now because they still speak

to our human need for embracing love just as we are and in this we find what we need to be the better 

person God intends us to be. 

Our political and social environment is so toxic we need some anchor truth to keep our balance.

Do you realize that when you are talking to God silence is the response you get? God is listening and sooner or later in the silence of your mind you will become aware of God's response.

The Good News

THE ANGEL ANNOUNCED FEAR NOT FOR I BRING GOOD NEWS OF GREAT JOY FOR ALL THE PEOPLE. (Luke 2:10). THE STORMS OF VIOLENCE, MURDER, CORRUPTION, POVERTY, DISEASE…..ARE ANNOUNCED REPEATEDLY OVER THE NEWS. THERE IS TROUBLE EVERYWHERE. SO IT HAS BEEN ALL THE WAY BACK TO THE TIME OF JESUS CHRIST ENTRY INTO THE WORLD. THE BIBLE IS FULL OF STORIES OF MEAN SPIRITED AND MURDEROUS BEHAVIOR AMONG PEOPLE. SO WHAT AM I GETTING AT??? This is the Advent time in our Christian Heritage when we call special attention to the dream, intent of God for the world and all people. Our calling and opportunity is to live this truth in the midst of all the negative conditions. Maybe we are just a small point of light but in the darkness that light very likely will point the way for someone needing a sense of direction and purpose…..
