Get with God

These may be times when we become aware of our need to center or recenter our minds and hearts in God our Creator. When we do, life begins to sort itself into proper and worthwhile order/direction. It may not be what we want, but at the core we know we are headed in the right direction...

"It's not having what you want. It's wanting what you've got." This quote by "Sully" Sullenberger speaks to his attitude toward living. He piloted flight 1549 onto the surface of the Hudson River after his engines were destroyed by a flock of birds. This was not what he wanted that day as he began his trip to Charlotte, N.C. He quickly embraced his crisis and skillfully managed a safe landing thus saving the lives of everyone on board. Life has it's own agenda no matter how we plan. When we want/accept/embrace what is our total being gets into the act and we are able to accomplish what is needed now.

The Now

(Proverbs 20:5) - one thought that came to mind is that when we hurry we are more focused on getting results than on carefully paying attention to the detail, the step that is ready to be taken. It is sort of like climbing to the top of the mountain one step at a time and paying attention to the moment and seeing the beauty where we are now. It is also learning to live with a sense of the time being right for what we are doing….

Patience and Trust

GIVE YOURSELF TO THE LORD; TRUST IN HIM, AND HE WILL HELP YOU; …..BE PATIENT AND WAIT FOR THE LORD TO ACT; ……(Psalms 37:5, 7) — No, I want results now! 

Why doesn't God answer my prayer?? Two key words - trust and patient. God acts when it is time to act. God speaks when it is time to speak. God's silence is not a no. Trust and be patient. While you wait, pay attention to where you are and enjoy God's blessings now. 

Another Way to say Faith and Hope

When I read these words by Mark Nepo I paused, listened and thought this is worth thinking about. "Tragedy stays alive by feeling what's been done to us, while peace comes alive by living with the results." The tree has been scared and the evidence remains, but the tree has continued to grow tall and the scar becomes insignificant in the total life of the tree……and there is peace in the shade of the tree….
