In the Family of Christ

>
> I got into conversation this morning with someone I have only recently met. It so happens this man at one time lived in the same part of the county I had lived many years ago. There flowed from the two of us names of people we both know and the network of families in this community. Connection happened. He and I have a common heritage and celebrated our memories. The interesting thing about this encounter is that it centered in the church. I was there in the church. In other words we are talking about the community of Christ…love, friendship, support, encouragement, faith….yes, we are all God's children and we need one another. Jesus has chosen you and me to be his friend and through us he brings others into friendship with Holy Spirit. We are not only children of God we are also friends and friends bless one another. You never know what will come out of conversation with a new acquaintance.

blessings

>
> "…TO OPEN YOUR ARMS TO WHAT IS INSTEAD OF WAITING UNTIL IT IS WHAT IT SHOULD BE…" — THESE WORDS COME FROM BARBARA TAYLOR IN HER BOOK, "AN ALTAR IN THE WORLD". SHE IS WRITING ABOUT BENEDICTION/BLESSING. I HAVE A NEW APPRECIATION FOR THE PLACE OF BLESSING IN LIFE. I GREW UP IN A HOME WHERE WE HAD THE BLESSING AT EACH MEAL. OVER A PERIOD OF NEARLY 50 YEARS I GAVE THE BENEDICTION AT THE CLOSE OF WORSHIP. I SAID SOMETHING LIKE THE BLESSINGS OF GOD THE FATHER, THE SON, THE HOLY SPRIT GO WITH YOUR AND REMAIN WITH YOU. IT IS BETTER TO SAY BLESSINGS TO ONE ANOTHER THAN TO SAY CURSES. IF SOMEONE PULLS IN FRONT OF YOU IN TRAFFIC INSTEAD OF CURSING JUST SAY A BLESSING UPON THAT PERSON. IT MAY NOT CHANGE HIM BUT IT WILL DO WONDERS FOR YOUR ATTITUDE AND SPIRIT.

Fwd: thought

Several college students happened at the bus station in Atlanta after a weekend with friends in various places. On the way back to Young Harris College there was a stop at the bus station in Blue Ridge and some got off for rest rooms and refreshment. When all returned for the last leg of the trip seating arrangement was changed and I found myself sitting beside a young female classmate. We talked our way to our destination and in the days and weeks that followed we grew in a relationship that resulted in marriage and family. The years have marched on and now we are enjoying the memories and the relationships of grown children and grandchildren. Our family is scattered across this country but our hearts are always close to one another. All this is part of Something bigger and grander than us; yet we are all part of the whole. “Bless the Lord on my soul and all that is within me bless God’s Holy name.”

Fwd: THOUGHT

> THEN GOD SAID, 'LET US MAKE MAN IN OUR IMAGE AND LIKENESS...' -- "There is only one man in the world therefore being true to our nature in the image of our Creator let us treat one another with compassion, love, kindness, respect, smile,

Oneness

>
> ONENESS-SYNC-CONNECTED-RECONCILED-UNITY-PEACE—THESE WORDS SPEAK TO THE REALITY OF ALL THAT IS, BOTH SEEN AND UNSEEN, KNOWN AND UNKNOWN. IN ANY MOMENT SOMEWHERE IN THE WORLD THESE WORDS APPEAR OUT OF TOUCH WITH REALITY. PEOPLE ARE KILLING ONE ANOTHER, THERE IS FAMINE AND DISEASE, THERE IS WAR AND HATRED. BUT A VOICE IN THE WILDERNESS HAS BEEN HEARD—"I HAVE COME THAT YOU MAY HAVE LIFE AND HAVE IT ABUNDANTLY…..LOVE ONE ANOTHER AS I HAVE LOVED YOU…GOD IS LOVE." THESE WORDS ECHO THROUGH THE UNIVERSE. PEOPLE/CHILDREN GROW BLESSED IN A BALANCED LOVING ENVIRONMENT BUT THEY SUFFER MIGHTILY WHEN ALL HELL BREAKS LOOSE.

Fwd: thought

What really matters to us is not proof of God's existence, but the experience of God's presence. Most likely we experience God's presence more than we realize; therefore we need awareness, recognition of Presence. But what evidence do we have of Presence in our lives? …..

avoid the sidetracks

>
> "it isn't the stations one has to worry about…it's the side tracks….So many people became sidetracked and missed the things that were worthwhile." These thoughts came out of some of my reading. Distractions can be dangerous. They can get us off page with what is most important. The most damaging distractions may come from within where fear, poor self-esteem, resentment, and other negative thoughts may side track us. A healthy prayer to call into focus frequently could be, "Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me." (Psalms 51:10) dealing with distractions can strengthen our mental and spiritual muscles.
